01 · The short answer

Will AI replace marketing professionals?

No. AI will take over many marketing tasks, and skilled professionals who learn to direct it will become more valuable. In 14 years of running Glint Creatives, every new tool removed repeat work and raised the price of judgment. AI is the biggest such tool yet. Use it like a well-informed friend you consult daily, and keep the final decision yours.

03 · Experience

Why is an agency founder writing about AI and jobs?

Because I meet scared marketers every week, and I have lived through tool shifts myself. My first job came in February 2008, after an 18-month PG Diploma at Arena Multimedia. I started Glint Creatives in 2012 with one real skill and my bike. Today we serve 750+ clients across Chennai, Hyderabad and Vijayawada.

  • 2006 · CHENNAI18-month PG Diploma in Design and Advertising, Arena Multimedia, Kilpauk.
  • FEB 2008First job, Head of Marketing Communications at Pixel Studios.
  • AUG 2012 · MOGAPPAIR EASTStarted Glint Creatives from a small room, with hand-coded UI and no outside funding.
  • 2018 TO 2024SM Awards 2018 from the AP Government, International Business Awards 2023 in Delhi (the story), DesignRush USA feature in 2024.
  • 2025 TO 2026PhD research on AI-driven marketing systems begins. 200+ AI visibility audits. 750+ clients.

Over these years I have watched design move from print to screens, video move from studios to phones, and websites move from hand-coded pages to templates and builders. The next shift, from heavy workstations to cloud AI, is one I wrote about in The workstation is shrinking. Every time, people feared the new tool, and the ones who learned it moved up. AI feels bigger because it can talk, write and plan, so it deserves a calm explanation instead of panic. The full record, with independent proof, is on my founder profile.

04 · The lesson

What does robotic surgery teach us about AI?

In hospitals today, a surgical robot does not decide on its own. The surgeon sits at a console and controls every movement, while the robot gives steady, bendable, magnified hands inside small cuts where human hands cannot reach. The robot is the hands and the surgeon is the brain, and AI in marketing works the same way.

I explained this to my team in two minutes, and it changed how they talked about AI for the rest of the week. Here is what is actually in operating theatres now.

USA · CLEARED MAR 2024

da Vinci 5, by Intuitive

The best-known system. Its fifth generation added force feedback, so surgeons can feel the pressure the instruments put on tissue.

USA · CLEARED DEC 2025

DELHI · JUN 2024

Surgery from another city

Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute performed India's first cancer telesurgery with SSI Mantra. The patient was at Rohini and the surgeon was in Gurugram.

Swap "robot" for AI and "surgeon" for you, and the picture still holds.

What the robot looks like, and what it does not do

It looks like arms on a wheeled machine beside the table, with a console where the surgeon sits. It is far from a humanoid. Instruments are changed by a bedside nurse or assistant, and scans show on screens in the theatre.

Where it is heading LAB ONLY

Researchers at Johns Hopkins have shown robots doing parts of surgery alone, in labs. Their STAR robot performed laparoscopic surgery on a live pig in 2022. In July 2025, their SRT-H robot completed the key phase of a gallbladder removal on organs from pig cadavers after learning from surgeon videos. Even SRT-H accepts spoken corrections from a human expert, much like a junior doctor guided by a senior. None of this is in routine patient care yet.

05 · The picture

What is AI, really, for a working marketer?

Think of your friend circle. One friend knows sports, one knows which jewellery shop to trust, one knows the best route to Munnar. AI is all of them in one seat beside you, awake at 2 am. It knows more topics than any friend, yet it does not know your client, your budget or your history unless you tell it.

The friend circle: many experts in one seat, and you decide Sports Jewellery Travel Data Writing Research You decide AI: THE WHOLE CIRCLE IN ONE SEAT
Ask the circle anything. The decision stays in the middle, with you.

Ask it to plan a family trip to Munnar and it will give you a full itinerary in a minute. You still decide, because you know your budget, the leave you have, and that your mother cannot handle the long ghat drive. Marketing works the same way. AI can draft a campaign plan for a plot launch in minutes, while you know the client's cash flow, the builder's reputation in that area and the offer the sales team can actually honour.

Where this friend is weaker than a real one

LIMIT 01

It does not know you

It only knows what you type into it.

LIMIT 02

It can be confidently wrong

A good friend says "I am not sure, check once." AI often does not.

LIMIT 03

It carries no responsibility

When a campaign fails, the client calls you.

SO

Ask everything, decide yourself

Use it for speed, and check what matters before it goes public.

06 · Our own data

Which marketing tasks does AI already do faster?

At Glint Creatives, AI now speeds up four kinds of work: market and competitor research, first drafts of blogs, campaign data analysis, and AI video for ideas we could not shoot. By our internal estimate, the same team now produces about 45% more. Strategy still comes from our team leads and me.

45% MORE OUTPUT

When AI came in, we had two options, cut the team or let the same team do more, and we chose the second. The figure is our internal estimate for 2026, and the strategy behind every campaign is still decided by people.

DAYS → HOURS

Research for lead campaigns

When we plan leads for a Chennai interior brand or a plot project, the team needs to know what competitors in the same area are running, with which offer and at what price. Four years ago that meant days of manual searching. Today Claude and ChatGPT pull it together in hours and help us connect the dots. The strategy is still decided by the team, the team lead and me.

FASTER FIRST DRAFTS

Blog writing

Drafts come much faster now. The angle, the fact checks and the final rewrite stay with us. This page was made the same way, and the note at the bottom says so.

ONE VIEW

Campaign analysis

AI dashboards bring results from every platform into one view, so the review happens faster, and so does the fix.

IDEA → SCREEN

AI video

Ideas that once stayed on paper because a shoot was too costly can now come to life on screen. We no longer depend only on shoots.

These are Glint Creatives' own observations from our 2026 work, measured internally. They come from one agency and are not a controlled study.

07 · The evidence

Will AI take marketing jobs in India?

Some tasks and some roles will shrink, and pretending otherwise helps nobody. The evidence so far points to change more than mass loss. The ILO found about 25% of workers worldwide in jobs with some generative AI exposure, with only 3.3% in the highest-exposure group, and it states that exposure does not mean job loss.

The JCB lesson

Go to any construction site in Chennai. Digging foundations once meant rows of labourers with spades. Today one machine does that digging, with one operator in the cabin. Most of India calls it a JCB, but JCB is the brand; the machine itself is an excavator, most often the backhoe loader you see on Indian sites. The excavator did replace a lot of spade work. Labourers who learned to operate the machine moved up, and those who refused were left behind.

Illustration, not a study. Indian rate-analysis norms based on CPWD-style coefficients put manual excavation at roughly 3.5 to 4.5 cubic metres per worker per day in sandy soil. Machine output depends on soil, depth and model, so a site engineer can give you the real figure for your site. The direction is what matters: one operator with an excavator does the work of a crew with spades.

The excavator still needs its operator. It does not know where the drainage line runs, which wall the neighbour shares, or where the building plan says to stop. The operator carries that map in his head and the control in his hand.

Where the JCB picture breaks

An excavator has no judgment at all, while AI can draft a whole strategy by itself. That is why the friend circle matters more than the machine. AI can propose the plan, and it still cannot own the outcome.

For the wider economic picture, read my notes on the Efficiency Paradox and on how AI and automation are changing jobs and skills.

From spade to cabin: four steps Spade workRepeat tasks by hand Machine userUses AI for tasks OperatorDirects, checks, decides Site leadPlans, owns results, trains others
The value of a marketer rises with each step towards the cabin.

What India's own roadmap says

NITI Aayog's October 2025 roadmap, built with NASSCOM and BCG, notes that over 60% of formal sector jobs in India are susceptible to automation by 2030, citing outside research. Its foreword also says the tech sector could create up to 4 million new opportunities by 2031 instead of losing about 1.5 million jobs, depending on the skilling choices made now. Susceptible does not mean lost.

What we do not have: reliable India-specific data on marketing jobs gained or lost to AI. I have not found it, and I will not guess.

08 · The rule

Where must a human stop the machine?

At five points: when the client's unwritten context matters, when the brand voice is at stake, when a fact or number goes public, when ethics or law is involved, and at the final sign-off. AI can draft the plan. Only the operator signs it.

STOP 01

Client context

AI does not know the builder's reputation in that locality, the mood of a school's admission season, or the promise the founder made in the last meeting.

STOP 02

Brand voice

AI writes in an average voice by default. A brand built over ten years needs its own voice, and someone has to protect it.

STOP 03

Facts and numbers

AI can invent a statistic, a price or a source that sounds right. Every number we publish is checked against a named source with a date.

STOP 04

Ethics and law

Personal data in India falls under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Fake reviews, false urgency and misleading claims stay wrong even when a machine writes them.

STOP 05

The final sign-off

When a campaign goes wrong, the client calls a person. That person must have read and approved every line.

The JCB Rule · Kalyan Raj Bandaru

AI is the machine. Judgment is the operator. Skill decides who sits in the cabin.

AI can draft the plan. Only the operator signs it.

09 · The plan

How does a marketer move from spade to cabin?

Start with fundamentals, then add AI on top. My 70% Rule says master 70% of the fundamentals before chasing the 30% specialisation. A marketer who understands how a campaign works will direct AI well, while one who only knows prompts cannot tell when the answer is wrong.

The way I learn anything new is Learn, Implement, Teach. Learn one AI tool properly, implement it on real work the same week, then teach it to one colleague. Teaching shows you what you only thought you knew.

A 30-day starter plan

WEEK 1 · PICK

Pick one repeat task, such as competitor research, a weekly report or a first draft. Do it with AI and note the time before and after.

WEEK 2 · CHECK

Check every fact AI gives you against a real source. Keep a short list of the mistakes it makes.

WEEK 3 · BUILD

Turn what works into one small template or dashboard your team can reuse.

WEEK 4 · TEACH

Teach it in a 15-minute team session, and write down what you would never hand to AI.

If you are just starting, my earlier piece on making your digital marketing career unstoppable covers the fundamentals side in detail, and what is next in digital marketing covers the trends worth learning on top.

10 · Wider view

Does this apply beyond marketing?

Yes. Teachers, accountants, designers, doctors and engineers all face the same shift. Repeat tasks move to the machine, while judgment, trust and accountability stay with the person. The tools change by profession, and the rule stays the same: understand the concept, use AI daily, and keep the decision yours.

If you are a student still deciding whether to enter the field, Glint Digital Academy has a separate guide written for you: Can AI replace digital marketers? An honest answer for students.

11 · Honest limits

What do we still not know?

Quite a lot, and I would rather say so. Nobody has reliable India-specific data yet on marketing jobs gained or lost to AI. Robots operating alone are still a lab result. AI tools change every few months, so any figure on this page can age, and I will update this page when better data appears.

What now

What should you do this week?

Do not be scared of AI, and do not ignore it either. At Glint Creatives, the same people, working smarter with AI, now do the work of a bigger team. That is what I want for every marketer reading this: keep your seat, learn the machine, and let your judgment drive it.

Respect your profession, absorb the concepts behind AI, and adapt quickly. Pick one task from the 30-day plan and start on Monday. If you are weighing whether to move or stay where you are, my note on win or settle may help.

13 · Questions

What else do marketers ask about AI and jobs?

AI will replace many repeat marketing tasks, such as basic reports, resizing and first drafts. Marketers who understand fundamentals and learn to direct AI are becoming more valuable. The ILO's 2025 study found only 3.3% of workers globally in the highest generative AI exposure group, and it says exposure does not mean job loss.

Roles built mostly on repeat tasks carry the most risk: routine reporting, simple ad variations, bulk content without strategy and basic data entry. Roles that need client understanding, brand judgment, strategy and accountability are safer. Most roles will change in their mix of tasks before they disappear.

AI can draft a reasonable strategy in minutes if you give it good inputs. It does not know your client's budget, history, local reputation or unwritten promises, and it can state wrong facts with confidence. Use its draft as input. A person who knows the business must decide and sign off.

Trust it for speed and verify it for accuracy. At Glint Creatives, every fact, number and claim that goes public is checked against a named source. Personal data in India is governed by the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, so never paste confidential client or customer data into a tool without permission.

Strong fundamentals first: customer research, positioning, copy, media planning and analytics. Then AI skills on top: writing clear instructions, checking outputs, building simple dashboards and AI-assisted creative. Add AEO and GEO, the two disciplines inside AI SEO, so your clients get named inside AI answers.

The JCB Rule is Kalyan Raj Bandaru's way of explaining AI at work: AI is the machine, judgment is the operator, and skill decides who sits in the cabin. JCB is the brand most Indians use for the excavator. It digs faster than any crew, and the operator still decides where to dig, how deep, and when to stop.

No. In routine surgery today, systems like da Vinci, Hugo and SSI Mantra are controlled by a surgeon at a console. The robot gives steadier, finer movement inside small incisions. Robots doing parts of surgery alone have only been shown in research, such as the Johns Hopkins work on animal tissue.

There is no fixed time. Start with one repeat task and practise daily for 30 days. You will learn where it helps, where it fails and what to check. Becoming the person who directs AI across a whole campaign takes longer, because that depends on your fundamentals.

Yes, though entry-level work is changing fastest, because many first-job tasks are the easiest to automate. Freshers who show strong fundamentals and real AI-assisted work samples stand out. Build a small portfolio of real tasks done with AI and explain how you checked each output.

That is each agency's choice. At Glint Creatives we chose to grow output with the same team, and by our internal estimate the team now produces about 45% more because AI took over repeat work. Cutting people also cuts the judgment, client relationships and brand memory that AI cannot replace.

AI SEO is the common name for getting a brand named and cited inside AI answers. Done properly it is two disciplines: AEO, winning the answer itself in AI Overviews and snippets, and GEO, earning citations inside ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini.
